I’m not into Karahanyuze just because I’m a nostalgic person( I wasn't even born when these songs were released) but because I love words that are well put together. Karahanyuze lyrics are just so profound, and I always learn a thing or two. Diving into Rugamba Cyprien's & Amasimbi n'amakombe music is always a vision of a thriving society to me. They don't even use instruments but wow! Thankful for the wisdom shared and now let’s talk Rugamba through my lens:
Ikivi:
“Cya kivi nateruye kirananiye, Ndikamata ngo ncyuse ngasusumira. Ndumva intege ari nkeya, zananiye nkibyuka, Ndarekeye. Urumve shami nashibutse, Icyo kivi ni icyawe. Ubu nguhaliye kucyusa, Mwana wanjye uzabe ingenzi, Uzase nanjye, urenzeho unsumbye, Ndabigusabye.”
This makes me think of my grandma( may she RIP), such a phenomenal woman. She is number 1 on the list of people I wanna make proud then next comes my parents and siblings. This song to me is love in a globe. Our parents work/worked hard to give us a good life, there will come a time where we will need to step up to preserve the legacy.
Ababyeyi batwifuriza kuzasa nabo maze tukanabasumba and what a beautiful thing! Tuzubakire kubyo bagezeho maze noneho dusumbyeho. Tubatere ishema, twuse ikivi, tubagwe mu ntege aho bananiwe, dusoze ibyo batangiye. Thinking of Rwanda's journey, we really have big feet to step in and I for sure know we are grateful for it. I didn't come from mediocre, I won't be mediocre! Amen!
Umusore ukwiye:
"Umusore uvuga umurimo, ni we utsimbura umuruho. Ntararikira iby'undi, ahubwo anyurwa n'ibye, arwana ngo abyunguruze azafate abamusumba, akure ajy'ejuru."
"Niba atashye ahingutse mu irembo, arakubita agatwenge, ati mwiriwe ab'iwanjye, umugore cyangwa abana mu rugo, bose baza bamusanga, bamusekere cyane, Ng'uwo umusore nkunda. Ntabwo ahinga umujinya, ngo yigire intare yica, yice igiti n'isazi. Usanga urugwiro hose rusendereye. Ntabwo aza atura umunabi ku bana, cyangwa se k'uwo bashakanye."
I remember having a deep conversation about my dating life with mom. The conversation ended in her suggesting I listened to this song. I find beautiful simplicity in the man being described here, not anything toxic, he's a man of dignity. I find myself coming back to this song whenever I'm confused about my dating life and often find redirection. How I love the man being described here, wish I could order him from Amazon.
Ntumpeho:
"Umuco mwiza wakureze, ntugatume udindira. Mu by'abandi jya utora ibyiza, Ibifutamye ujugunye. Niba urabukwa iby'ahandi Ugata n'urwo wambaye, Ntumpeho. Nimucyo twambare Twambarire kuba imena. Jyewe ubu nahisemo, nzatwaza ngana imbere. Nushaka unkurikire, mu runana rw'imihigo turishinge turahire y'uko tuzahora dukunda ibyiza: Ubutabera n'amahoro, Urukundo n'ubupfura ubukire bwanga ibyo ndabugaya Ntumpeho."
Ku bukire bwanga ubutabera, amahoro, urukundo n'ubupfura ntidusangire rwose! Ntumpeho pe!
Whenever I listen to this, I always think about the concept of staying true to yourself and your principles. In a world of peer pressure and exposure on different people's lifestyle, learn to say no to what doesn't serve your purpose. Trust me you will be fine, just choose good and trust the process. With such beautiful lyrics, I have nothing else to say. The song speaks for itself.
Inshuti nyanshuti:
"Inshuti nyanshuti ntabwo ituma uhemuka ikugira utunama two kwiyubaha Ukubaha uwo mubano utaretse iyakuremye ikwigisha gukunda no kwifasha cyane Ngo ujye imbere."
"Inshuti nyanshuti ntago ijya ikurambirwa Ntikunda agashungo k'abaharara Ikurindiriza aharamba imyaka akari jana Haba amanywa y'ihangu cyangwa ijoro rijigije Ntihinyuke."
I love a good friendship, built on a good foundation. I love a friend that supports and holds you accountable. Inshuti itazagutarama mu bandi, inshuti itazakureka ngo wirohe. Sometimes I look back on my life and feel so grateful for the community that held my hand throughout my personal growth, a community that made me question things, and helped me learn discernment. Thank you!
Igipimo cy'urukundo:
I won't share the lyrics of this song because I don't relate and find them very not Laurette because I would definitely fail the test this man ran to find true love.
You killed someone and you want me to hide you? That wouldn't be so good citizen of me. I won't partake in that. Ntumpeho!
I loved you, ntiwabyitaho but now that the woman you loved failed the test uhise unyibuka? No, I refuse and rebuke this kind of love. Ntabwo uri umusore unkwiriye rwose.
I had a hard time choosing which lyrics to share because these songs are gems from start to end. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed reading this. Besos!
C for Ciao!
